Labour Day - 2026

All over the world the people celebrates May 1 as a International Labour Day. It is an act of respect and honor to the workers across all over the world. And all sectors.  It originated from the 19th-century workers strike for an eight-hour workday, workers’ rights, fair wages, and safe environments. The movement was held in 1886 at Chicago. The workers boldly faced police violence. Several protestors scarifieced a lot. And some people lost their lives during this movement.

Today, celebrate the day and they demonstrate worker solidarity. India is observing and celebrating it from 1923 onwards. It was initiated by the Labour Kisan Party of Hindustan in Chennai.  It symbolaizes and celebrates dignity of labour. The economic progress must include social justice is the major logic behind this celebration.  The workers are the backbone of a country.
